From 2017 onwards, NEET is the Single National Medical Entrance exam for admission to all Medical and Para-medical courses in the 472+ Medical colleges in India. Thus, admission for MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS, B.Pth. etc. courses is on the basis of the NEET exam.
About 16 lac students appear for NEET every year across India. A score of 550+ marks in usually sufficient to secure admission in MBBS courses in Govt. Medical colleges for OPEN category students. However, to secure admission in MBBS in Mumbai-Pune GMCs, a score of 600+ marks is required. A score of about 150 marks is sufficient to qualify NEET and be eligible for admission for paramedical courses.
NEET exam has Std.11 + 12 syllabus of CBSE Boards and NCERT Text books are very useful especially in Biology and Chemistry to prepare for NEET exam. The NEET exam has 180 questions and 720 marks with (+4,-1) marking scheme.
